Nordstrom Hackathon
Rebrand for Nordstrom Hackathon.
At Nordstrom the hackathon is a historically engineer-focused event, and the team wanted to expand their reach company wide with the goal of broadening the hack projects to cover more business solutions. To answer this ask, my team created a branding system that could adapt to different quarterly themes, elevate the hackathon as an inclusive, exciting internal event and create interest amongst non-tech partners. I developed the creative system and worked with engineering partners to develop a central website/hub of information, and communication templates. One of the most interesting things I learned from this experience was the vast number of internal tools each team uses. Our dev & engineering use completely different programs and networks from marketing & business. We were challenged to use existing internal resources so we built our design around an Office365/Sharepoint site template - leaning on marketing/business tools to open up access for those partners who were less familiar with hackathons. All work (including design research, exploration, branding, UX/UI) was done during a 48hr hack. The logo system has now been used for 2 successive hacks.
